Sky River Helicopters is a renowned provider of flight instruction, tours, and aerial services in the Philadelphia area. While managing the daily operations of the company, I took it upon myself to capture content for social media, and a newly redesigned website I created.

Out with the old
If you can't see anything wrong with their old website, you might need glasses. Besides the obvious fact the site was not responsive, it also contained a lot of outdated information and visuals.
Navigation
The old navigation had a few issues. Tours, charters, and flight instruction are their main services, everything else to the right could easily be placed within these services or moved elsewhere. Since the site was not responsive, the navigation's drop down menus were almost impossible to use on mobile.
Old Features
The site contained a lot of outdated information which caused confusion amongst customers. This online booking portal would be a great feature, if it worked. None of the third party apps tying into the site were functional.
Options were explored to have a customer booking portal, but given the ever changing student and aircraft schedules it was determined to be easier to mannually add tours to the schedule.
Design Goals
After identifying a number of problems, I set off to solve them. Some areas I focused on were:
... In with the new
Show them what they're missing
My photography focused on showcasing the breathtaking views encountered during tours, demonstrating to potential clients what they are missing out on. Imagery of students focused on them in action, so prospective students may imagine themselves in their shoes, actualizing their dream of being a pilot.
For the gram 📱
During my time at Sky River, I collected gigabytes of footage for use on social media. Below are just a few examples.
